David Schachter leads the Intellectual Property Practice at Sherman & Howard, Denver’s oldest and one of the most successful law firms in the region. The firm, with more than 200 attorneys in the practice, assists clients in all aspects of law affecting businesses and public institutions.

For more than 28 years, Schachter has assisted clients ranging from emerging start ups to Fortune 500 companies in protecting their core and most valuable assets: patents, copyrights, trademarks, software, trade secrets, Internet domains, and competitive intelligence. He also writes a bi-monthly column on intellectual property matters for the Denver Business Journal. He holds a Bachelor of Arts, cum laude, from the University of Colorado, and earned his law degree from the University of Santa Clara School of Law.

As a member of the Board of Governors and the Executive Committee of the Metro Denver EDC, and as a proud, third-generation Denver native, Schachter enjoys seeing the spirit fostered by the Metro Denver EDC, as well as the region’s resurgence into local, national, and world commerce.
