Sally Covington was raised around the idea of flight and exploration as her father was one of the leaders of the Manned Space Flight program at NASA. It is only natural that she found herself working at Denver International Airport (DIA), the fifth-busiest airport in North America and the 10th-busiest in the world. Covington serves as DIA’s deputy manager of aviation responsible for marketing, air service development, strategic research and planning, customer service, and public and media relations.
Covington’s major projects include launching a new Web site and mobile application to pre-market and provide a technical solution to enhance customer service at DIA, managing the airport’s efforts to secure new nonstop flights, and aggressively positioning DIA in local, national, and international press.
Covington holds an MA in communication from Baylor University and a BS in journalism from the University of Texas. She serves as an advisory member to the University of Denver’s International MBA program and is an active member of the Airport Council International’s air service committee. In addition, Covington represents DIA on various working groups in support of business and tourism development in Metro Denver.
"Marketing Denver globally is community effort," said Covington. "The Metro Denver EDC has taken a leadership role in supporting our efforts to secure new international and domestic flights, enhancing both the airport’s and the region’s competitive edge."
