Jerome Davis is the regional vice president for customer and community relations for Xcel Energy in Colorado. He and his staff represent the company in and build relationships with the nearly 300 communities and local governments served by the company throughout the state plus work closely with some of the firm’s largest commercial and industrial customers.
The two areas of focus for Xcel Energy in Colorado are to create a clean energy future at a reasonable cost to customers, and to provide safe, reliable energy while also giving time and money to the communities served. Xcel Energy serves 1.36 million electricity customers and 1.3 million natural gas customers. The company’s roots in Colorado go back more than 140 years.
Davis began his career with Public Service Company of Colorado, Xcel Energy’s operating company in the state, in 1984. He has served as the area manager for the City and County of Denver and the City of Aurora, and has also worked in substation engineering, corporate accounting, regional sales, and supplier diversity. A Colorado native, Davis earned his bachelor’s degree in finance and computer information systems and an MBA from Regis University.
Active in the community, Davis is currently a board member of the Metro Denver EDC, the Metro Denver Sports Commission, Metro State College of Denver, the Aurora EDC, Johnson & Wales University President’s Roundtable, and the Denver Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy.
“My involvement with the Metro Denver EDC has provided opportunities to learn about and meet our customers,” said Davis. “Xcel Energy serves 70 percent of the people in the state. The more we understand our customers’ needs and how they want to use energy to grow their businesses, the better we can serve them. Our success depends upon the success of our customers and the economic vitality of the state. It’s been that way for more than 140 years.”
