CU has record fundraising year
The University of Colorado set a fundraising record in 2007 receiving $133.5 million - the most for a single year in the university's 131-year history.
The university received $84.3 million through fundraising during the final six months of the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2007.
At the CU Boulder campus, Robert E. Foss and his wife, Georganne, pledged $1 million to name the dean's suite in the Koelbel Building, the newly renovated and expanded home of the Leeds School of Business, which reopened in August.
"Our donors continue to make significant investments in enhancing the quality of our programs and facilities," said CU President Hank Brown, in a statement. "Their support is particularly important in light of declining state funding. Their contributions do not replace investment from the state, but they allow us to partner with donors to add to the value of existing programs."
Philanthropic dollars account for 5.3 percent of CU's $2.2 billion annual budget.
The University of Colorado is a three-university system with campuses in Boulder and Colorado Springs, and a Denver campus located in downtown Denver. It also has a hospital - the Anschutz Medical Campus - in Aurora.
