Higher Education

As a business location, Metro Denver’s higher education system is one of the area’s greatest assets. Of Metro Denver's adult population, 39 percent are college graduates and 88.6 percent have graduated from high school. Colorado has the nation's third-most educated workforce.

The Metro Denver region provides a wide-range of higher education resources, including world-class research institutions, graduate and professional schools, and a broad-spectrum of undergraduate programs.

In 2006, Colorado universities received more than $675 million in research grants. World-class research is conducted in several universities located in throughout the Metro Denver region.

Many of Metro Denver's colleges and universities offer non-traditional or adult education programs including evening and weekend options. Distance learning programs are available for those seeking degrees or certifications.

Twelve, four-year public and private colleges and universities with enrollments totaling over 134,600 are located in the area. Metro Denver’s largest provider of workforce training and education services is its five, two-year public community colleges and 170 vocational/technical schools.
