According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's crime statistics for 2006, the Denver-Aurora MSA had only 427.7 violent crimes per 100,000 inhabitants, ranking the area as the sixth safest among the 25 largest metropolitan areas.
Denver's violent crimes dropped 2.7 percent and property crimes dropped 22 percent in 2006.
