CO-LABS to host conf. on state's federal research labs
CO-LABS, the Colorado nonprofit organization that advocates for Colorado’s twenty-four federal research labs, will hold a conference on Wednesday, February 18 to showcase the scientific research conducted at these labs. In conjunction with this event, Governor Ritter will present awards for research conducted at the labs that has had an impact on a global challenge.
The agenda will include a keynote address by Dan Arvizu, Director of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden about the role of federal labs in the US economy, panel presentations by scientists from twelve of the labs describing the scope of research being conducted at the federal labs in Colorado, presentation of the Governor’s Award, and a luncheon program with observations on US science and technology policy.
The event is targeted at those interested in learning what these labs are doing and how their research impacts the state, the US and the planet. Topics include climate research, renewable energy, water in the West, natural resource management, complex modeling, and photonics. We anticipate an audience from the private sector, higher education, federal labs, and the general public.
Event sponsors include NREL, Xcel Energy, Elevations Credit Union, and Colorado State University.
