An evening under the stars at the Pueblo Nature Center
CSU-P and SCAS Pueblo on display at the Pueblo Nature Center.
Friday June 24th beginning at 7pm Colorado State University will be host to an Open House at the Pueblo Nature Center. The College of Sciences and Mathematics, College of Education, Engineering and Professional Studies along with the Southern Colorado Astronomical Society will have hands on displays set up in the Nature Center. The Open house will feature 2 special guest speakers, Chuck Percival and Howard "Cork" Hayden, giving informal discussions on The Night Sky and What the Ancients Knew and musician Chuck Gallo will provide live musical entertainment. Food and drink will be available at this event. The Southern Colorado Astronomical Society will have a special telescope set up at their booth, a Hydrogen-Alpha telescope, which allows for direct viewing of the Sun. As the skies turn dark SCAS Pueblo will place the observatory into operation with Chuck Percival bringing groups of visitors to the observatory to discuss the constellations. Immediately following this discussion visitors are invited into the observatory for deep sky viewing through the 22 inch Celestron research grade telescope.
