Denver Metro Chamber Board supports B-Cycle program
Members of the Board of Directors of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce on June 10 will ride Denver B-Cycles to their regular monthly meeting, to show support for the bicycle share program in the city. The move comes as part of Colorado’s bike to work month.
Denver B-cycle is the first large-scale municipal bike sharing system in the United States, and the program was launched in Denver in April.
“It’s always said that ‘you never forget how to ride a bike.’ This will be a chance for our board members to demonstrate that lifelong skill and support this great initiative in Denver, before showing their business skills at our regular board meeting,” said Chuck Ward, 2009-2010 chamber board chairman.
When: -7:00 a.m.: Chamber board members will meet outside the Chamber building and will walk from the Chamber to the Market Street Station (one block).
-7:30 a.m.: Board members will each take a B-Cycle bike for a brisk ride to the new Xcel Energy Building at 1800 Larimer, to “bike to (their) board” meeting. The building is also just a short walk from the Chamber.
-8:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m.: The Board meeting will take place at the new Xcel Building in the 2nd Floor Conference Room.
“Denver is the perfect community to do something like this,” Chamber president and CEO Kelly Brough said of the B-cycle program. “Our business community is active and high-energy and this is one more option for them to get to and from meetings.”
