CO Race to the Top recommendations go to Gov. Ritter

Recommendations for Colorado's Race to the Top education reform grant proposal went to Gov. Bill Ritter on Nov. 13, following the issuance of final guidelines from the U.S. Department of Education.

"Colorado's efforts align well with the guidelines announced today. We have been working on these education reforms since 2007 -- before there was a Race to the Top - and will put together a robust proposal for federal funding," said Lt. Gov. Barbara O'Brien, who is spearheading the state's Race to the Top efforts.

Hundreds of people have volunteered time in Colorado to help propose the recommendations over the past three months. States are competing against each other for the education reform dollars, with final proposals due in mid-January.
