DigitalGlobe expands corporate headquarters in Longmont

DigitalGlobe is the world’s leading provider of high resolution commercial imagery and the only company operating a constellation of sub-meter commercial imaging satellites. DigitalGlobe’s headquarters is located in Longmont, Colorado. The company recently signed a lease at the former Adaptec building at 1951 South Fordham Street in an effort to expand its headquarters operations. The company plans to take over the lease of 30,710 square feet in March of 2009.

After launching its second satellite, WorldView-1 in September of 2007, the volumes of imagery collected have increase almost five-fold. The satellite was built in partnership with the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency under the NextView contract. The contract and other recent large contracts have allowed DigitalGlobe to drastically increase the amount of imagery produced for customers leading to an increase in the workforce and the need for more space for company headquarters. DigitalGlobe not only wanted to keep the new space in close proximity to its headquarters, but also the talented high-tech workforce and quality of life Longmont and the surrounding area provides.

DigitalGlobe currently operates the highest-resolution commercial satellite constellation with QuickBird and the first of two next-generation satellites, WorldView-1. The company plans to launch its second next-generation satellite, WorldView-2, in the third quarter of 2009.
