Colorado's aerospace economy takes center stage at Space Symposium

With the nation’s third largest space economy, Colorado offers aerospace companies the country’s most educated space workforce and a dynamic atmosphere for business growth.

And that message had a receptive audience at the National Space Symposium, the premier U.S. space forum for aerospace companies, industry leaders, and military and NASA officials, April 9-12, 2007 in Colorado Springs. The Colorado Space Coalition sponsored the Symposium's opening reception and exhibited at the week-long conference.

"The Coalition's efforts were very well received again this year," stated Holli Baumunk, vice president of the Metro Denver EDC. "We even had competitors (like Florida) visiting our booth to compliment our efforts in marketing Colorado's space industry."

Introduced by Colorado Lt. Gov. Barbara O'Brien, the Aerospace Colorado video debuted at the opening general session, setting the stage for a successful symposium. The six-minute video promotes Colorado's aerospace industry through interviews with industry leaders including Michael Gass of ULA, Ralph Christie of Merrick & Co., Bruce Wald of ITT Corporation, and Scott Smith of DigitalGlobe. The video is currently showing on Frontier Airline's inflight network.
