Homeland Defense "Emerging Technology Day" to be held in Colorado Springs

A one day conference entitled Emerging Technology Day will be sponsored by the Colorado Homeland Defense Alliance (CHDA) and hosted by the National Homeland Defense Foundation (NHDF) on October 27, 2008, in conjunction with the annual Homeland Defense/Homeland Security Symposium. This no-fee conference is open to the general public and will be held in Broadmoor Hall at the Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs.

The conference will feature presentations of technical papers selected from the NHDF Call for Papers that was issued in April, 2008, along with an important section on "Bridging the Gap Between HS/HD Needs and Your Emerging Technology." Presentations from various government agencies will identify technology capabilities they have identified as high priority for Homeland Security/Defense, and ways to pursue business opportunities with them to mature these emerging technologies.

Invited government agencies include The Homeland Security Advanced Research Project Agency (HSARPA), The Colorado Governors Office of Homeland Security, North American Aerospace Defense Command/ US Northern Command, and Defence R&D Canada. Experts on Small Business Innovation Research and Technology Transfer programs (SBIR/STTR) as well as how to do business with state governments will also participate.

Colorado research Universities and innovate smaller technology based companies will display some of their "emerging" technology concepts for attendees.

There will be a reception for attendees following the presentations.
