Sierra Nevada Corporation adding 200 jobs in Colorado

Sierra Nevada Corp. is creating 200 jobs in Centennial, taking advantage of the Colorado's new job-creation tax credit, the office of Gov. Bill Ritter announced Monday.

The Reno-based aerospace and defense company owns an aircraft repair and modification company at Centennial Airport. The subsidiary is called Straight Flight Inc.

Ritter, in a written statement, praised Sierra Nevada Corp.'s expansion in the state.

"While the nation's economy continues to struggle, Colorado is leading the way toward a strong and sustainable recovery because of our focus on innovation, manufacturing and future-oriented industries like aerospace," Ritter said. "Government can't fix the economy on its own, but we're doing all we can to help, and new laws like House Bill 1001 are a big part of that."

The bill created a payroll-tax credit for companies that create new jobs on Colorado.
