International passenger traffic at Denver International Airport (DIA) is anticipated to increase annually. Attracting new international flights is one of the Metro Denver EDC's top economic development initiatives.
In 2003, DIA opened its sixth runway, which at 16,000 feet, is the longest commercial runway in North America. The extra distance gives fully loaded jumbo jets added length to take off, providing unrestricted access and growth potential for international flights.
DIA offers nonstop service to 19 international locations including destinations in Germany, the United Kingdom, Canada, Mexico, and Costa Rica.
