Ensuring Oil Extraction for Adequate Energy: A Partnership for Advanced Oil Service Training

Program’s Objectives: Adams County Workforce & Business Center’s (ACWBC) program will recruit and train 175 adults as equipment operators, drivers or materials handlers for energy companies through a partnership with Front Range Community College (FRCC), and the Center for Transportation Safety (CTS). This program provides an intensive introduction to working as a driver/heavy equipment operator to increase post-training retention of the participants.

Individuals Served: It is very early in this grant process. The first training session will commence on August 25, 2008. It is anticipated that when the first training session commencwill commence 8 of the 12 spots will be filled and that thirty applicants were screened and/or tested to enroll these trainees. September and October are historically the busiest training and hiring months for the energy industry. It is projected that double the amount of training sessions will need to be conducted in these months to fill the number of job openings that are anticipated.
