The ideal climate for growing talented workers.
From pre-school to post doc, Metro Denver has first-class educational resources to engage our energetic young minds and prepare them for tomorrow’s workforce.
During the 2009 legislative session, Colorado Governor Bill Ritter signed into law a comprehensive package of education-reform measures, including bills to help reduce the dropout rate, allow students to simultaneously earn a high school diploma and a college associate's degree, and give Colorado a better chance of landing "Race to the Top" funds.
The $4 billion Race to the Top fund is the largest ever federal competitive investment in school reform. The funding will be divided among the states deemed to be in the top tier of education reform, over two phases. It is designed to create incentives for innovative, dynamic and quality education policies that ensure that every child has access to a good education and can compete in the global economy.
Our commitment to education begins in Pre-Kindergarten with initiatives that invest in preparedness like Preschool Matters and the Colorado Preschool Program. K-12 education in Metro Denver offers many choices, including high-quality public schools with alternative learning environments such as charter and magnet schools, and private and parochial schools.
Higher educational resources encompass a variety of undergraduate, graduate and professional programs at 12 public and private four-year colleges and universities, including world-class research institutions like the University of Colorado, Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State University, and the University of Denver. And the state's community colleges offer employers customized training to meet changing workforce needs.
